About the Project
The water crisis is a mammoth problem that requires urgent attention. While governments are attempting to introduce policies to mitigate environmental problems, there’s still a long way to go before organized solutions on a global or national scale can be implemented. And by that time, it will perhaps be too late to undo the damage. Hence, at this stage, it is crucial to begin acting in an individual capacity and do our bit in minimizing the risks that can potentially occur with large scale environmental problems.
Creating and raising awareness on the perils of water wastage and inefficient use of water, is perhaps one of the first steps in addressing the crisis. A large majority of the population are oblivious to the fact that several rural areas in India are running out of freshwater sources. The grave consequences of water wastage is not given adequate importance. The need to sustainably and judiciously use water is not something that is stressed upon enough. In light of this, it is important to begin acting sustainably and refrain from mindless wastage of water, regardless of which region we reside in.
Though the crisis is one that has its impact all over the country, in the state of Andhra Pradesh, it is especially grim. As such, Project W.A.N.T. is an initiative that seeks to create and raise awareness about water scarcity, specifically in Andhra Pradesh and aims to provide effective solutions to mitigate the same. Through the initiative and its associated approach, we aim to not only bring the problem to the fore but also encourage people to adopt sustainable practices with regards to water. We hope that through concerted efforts, Project W.A.N.T. is able to bring about a change in water consumption habits of the residents in and around Andhra Pradesh.
